Electrospinning Equipment:Spiral-structured Electrospun Conductive Conduits Filled with Aligned Nanofibers for Peripheral Nerve Regeneration 2025-03-28
Peripheral nerve injury (PNI), with over 5 million annual global cases, currently lacks an ideal treatment as autologous nerve grafting has limitations. To address this, researchers developed helical - structured electrospun conductive nerve guidance conduits (F - P/H - P) filled with oriented nanofibers. By combining hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) and poly(3,4 - ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT), the conduit's conductivity was enhanced. In vitro, F - P/H - P significantly promoted Schwann cells (SCs) and PC12 cells adhesion and proliferation, and under electrical stimulation, further increased nerve - related protein expression. In vivo, using a rat sciatic nerve defect model, F - P/H - P conduits accelerated nerve regeneration, angiogenesis, and functional recovery. This study demonstrates the potential of F-P/H-P conduits as an effective alternative for peripheral nerve repair.
